Writing letters to the universe may sound a little crazy...heck, I felt a little weird doing it! But as you read in my 'Using the Law of Attraction to Rock Your Life' post, asking the universe for exactly what it is that you want is super powerful.
I choose to ask the universe for things, but maybe you believe in some other higher power that you feel more comfortable writing letters to. The point is to manifest what you want. Get it out of your head and into the world. Shit happens when you verbalize (or write down) what you need from this life!
Manifesting is such a strong act. It's silly to not utilize it!
How I'm writing my letters
Every letter I write to the universe starts out the same exact way...
It's simple. Starting my letters off that way make it feel like a formal *and important* letter. That's because it is important. We're trying to get what we want out of life here - make it count!
For the main body of my letter I make the most powerful, mindful manifestation that I possibly can. I don't like to make the letters too long. Two-three sentences that pack a strong punch is really all that you need.
If you feel like you can't get what you need to say out in such a short phrase, write a paragraph! Do what you need to do. Just make sure your thoughts and desires are clear as day. You don't want the universe to get confused by some long-winded story time!
Be specific with what it is that you are needing. If you need to be led in the right direction, ask for a clear path. If you feel like you need abundance in some aspect of your life, show appreciation for what will come your way. This letter is between you and the universe. No one ever has to see it. Make it intimate and be as vulnerable as you possibly can. Don't be ashamed or embarrassed of what you're asking for.
Be sure to write this letter from a place of love and gratitude. Get specific with what you want, but don't show greed in this letter. Write it with intention and positivity. Make sure the universe knows how grateful you are that you can even write this letter in the first place.
Really honor yourself and your life when that pen hits the paper. Be grateful for what you have and have a strong reason to back what you're asking for.
If you're feeling a little lost and don't know what the heck to write to the universe, read the examples that I've provided below. If you resonate with one, go ahead and take it down as your own. Tweak it if you want. Just write something that you feel strongly about and flow from there.
I am prepared for all of the abundance that you are ready to show me and welcome it with open arms. I appreciate all that you do for me and will show my gratitude each and every day.
Please show me the light in the darkness of the thoughts that have been clouding my mind. Please shine light on the path that I am meant for. Give me that comfort so that I know I am heading into the right direction.
I know that I was put on this planet to serve a big purpose. Please lead me to my passion and show me all that I am capable of.

All of these letters are short, sweet and to the point. There's no extra fluff involved. They also are all written from a place of gratitude. No greed or ungratefulness will ever be included in my letters. That's because I am full of gratitude when I write them and I appreciate all that I do have. When you get to that place, your letters will be so much more powerful. They'll be heard by the universe with that much more intensity and you'll be more likely to get what it is that you're looking for.
Before you write your letters, maybe try some grounding techniques. They don't have to be long or super in depth. Just do something that gets you in touch with your spiritual side. Some grounding techniques may include:
Taking a quick walk
There's a lot of ways to prepare your mind for this letter. Some people may be able to just go for it and produce some powerful messages!
The only way to discover what works for you is to just try it. Start writing and see what happens. As long as you're writing with gratitude and believing in your words, then you're on the right track to getting what you need from the universe.
