It's easy to get caught up in the idea that power is essential in the world we live in today. Power gives you status, it gives you purpose. But shouldn't power be put on the back burner when it comes to more important issues like love and happiness? That's what this weeks Motivational Monday quote says to me.

Jimi Hendrix was not only an unbelievable musician, he was also a massive influence for equality and peace among the human race. Although his career was short lived, it is easy to see just how important he was to his generation.

This quote speaks volumes to me, especially after the horrific double murder that occurred just days ago on Wednesday, August 26 2015. You can find my post about that here.

Although power may seem like a nice thing to have, it isn't as important as it may seem. Since the beginning, it has been engraved in our heads that power is imperative. It is rare that someone sees through these deceitful thoughts and understands that power should be at the bottom of your list of things that are important to you.

What is even more dynamic than power? Love. Loving yourself, loving this planet, loving others. If you infuse these positive traits into your life, the power of love will alter your entire being. If the majority of people in this world would rank love over power, peace would inevitably make a rise to the surface.

Obviously, as humans, yearning for power will surely happen. It's how you react to your lust and whether or not you replace it with a more amicable approach. As I have said before, think before you act. Think before you react.

I know that I am working day in and day out to replace my negative attributes with those that are more valuable to society as a whole. Lead by example. The good thing about changing the way you see the world is that you have nothing to lose. The only thing that is there to be lost is a negative mindset and that doesn't sound like too bad of a thing to lose.
