Grounding Yourself In An Enormous World (Free Printable!)

After a two week long hiatus, I am back and ready to put all of my time and energy into this blog again. For me, Bohemian Crossroads is a place for me to express myself and inspire others to do the same.

Sometimes life gets rough and it is so easy to get caught up in all the commotion. Work, relationships and day-to-day problems become overwhelming and you suddenly lose sight of what's truly important.

A high percentage of the problems that I run into in my daily life are extremely insignificant and will work themselves out without me worrying. When you put a lot of attention and energy into these small problems, they grow and seem overwhelming.

When I have days like these - or in this case weeks - I try to focus on things that make me happy and spark joy in my life. I have noticed that spending more time in nature when I'm feeling down can really uplift my spirit. When I focus my energy on the trees and animals around me it reminds me how beautiful life is.

This planet is a fascinating place. There is so much meaning and purpose behind every little flower or hummingbird. When these things are in their natural habitat, they don't stress or feel overwhelmed. They trust in knowing their purpose on the Earth.

It is easy to forget our worth and purpose here, especially in times of stress or sadness. We all have significance in the world's complex plan that is our lives and it's important to remember that every single day. No matter how big or small of an impact we actually make on the world, we are all essential.

Don't give up, don't look back. Just remind yourself that you are a unique individual, like a flower. Though small compared to the big picture, you are extremely meaningful as a singular being.

Deciding Your Own Path

There are a lot of people in this world who choose to use their past as a handicap for their future. They let events that have occurred in their lifetime, determine who they will become for their entire lives.

That is exactly what this quote stands against in this week's segment of Motivational Monday.

"I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become." - C.G. Jung

"I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become." - C.G. Jung

C.G. Jung was a Swiss psychiatrist and psychotherapist. He deeply enjoyed studying both the conscious and unconscious mind of human beings. He believed that joining these two through individuation was what kept a person whole and sane.

To me, this quote should be one of the first things we all say to ourselves when we wake up in the morning. No matter what has happened in our lives, we need to continue to grow into bigger and better people.

I have some people very close to me that insist their lives are the way they are because of what happened to them as children. Personally, I can not stand that excuse. Your past does not define you. All the negativity from my past has fueled me and made me so much stronger than I ever was. It deeply saddens me when someone is so unhappy with their present because of things that happened years ago.

I refuse to be defined by the negativity of my past. I am who I am today because of what I learned along the way. Never let what happened to you drag you down or create a negative impact on your life. Use it to grow, use it as strength. We can all choose who we want to be and where we want to be. Nothing and no one can determine that.

If you are letting your past stop you from achieving something you have always wanted, it's time to change that. You can get where you want to be and you will, if you quit letting obstacles get in your way. I have faith in everyone out there to become the best they can be!
