Maneuvering Life As A Multi Passionate Entrepreneur
My whole life I was told that I’m a “dreamer.”
This may sound like a good thing, but the way it was said to me made it sound pretty negative. It was worded in a way like being a dreamer was a bad thing. Basically saying I’m all about the dream, but unable to stick to the action.
Into my adult life, this really hit me hard and was in the back of my head at the start of every passion project.
Maybe I was just all about the dreaming, but couldn’t follow through.
Many moons ago I stumbled across something called a “multi-passionate entrepreneur.” When I started researching what the heck this was, it all made sense to me.
I wasn’t lacking passion or drive, I was just letting myself get too caught up in all of my passions at once - causing major overwhelm and what looked like a lack of drive.
If you’ve followed this blog for a bit, you may have seen my passions change, expand and sometimes even throw you for a complete loop (I know they threw me for a loop sometimes).
I started Bohemian Crossroads as a place for me to share quotes and crafts, two things I’ve always enjoyed.
Then it turned into natural living tips mixed with some self help here and there.
Self help quickly became the main purpose of this blog and has kinda stuck with me ever sense.
I’ve dabbled in life coaching courses, Pinterest marketing courses and many more.
While I spent a lot of time feeling ashamed of this and genuinely feeling like a failure, a deeper dive into what was going on would’ve told me that my passions were finding a way to blend together to become this kick ass lifestyle situation that is perfectly aligned with my divine timing.
So, what have I learned along the way as a multi-passionate creative entrepreneur? Let’s talk about it.
It is okay to have more than one passion.
And you do not need to be ashamed about it.
If you’re a creative, like myself, you’re bound to have different hobbies and interests that feel like a good income opportunity.
It’s exciting to start a new business or add a new area of interest to an established business. And that is okay!
Having too many passions can slow your growth.
Yes! If I were to pursue my passions one by one at a slowed down, more mindful pace, I probably would’ve been seeing more success in different areas of my life.
Right now, most of my passions make me minimal income. And that’s okay with me. I’m building them all at my own pace and having fun doing it.
I took away the pressure of growing things to what others had grown them too. Things will happen when they’re supposed to for me and I’ve genuinely come to accept that.
Money isn’t everything. Enjoying life and the journey IS everything.
One path leads to another.
Like I mentioned in the beginning of this post, you’d be surprised how aligned your passions may actually be.
What started out as analyzing quotes on a silly blog turned into a full blown mindfulness lifestyle blog that aligns with all of the same values.
My life coaching courses helped me to understand how the brain works and how people create shifts in their life. This gave me massive amounts of content ideas and work to do on myself (and then share with you!)
Sometimes you just gotta go with what feels right and see where it leads you.
Judgment is a killer.
And a thief.
It’s important to always do your best to not let the comments from people around you affect your progress.
Sometimes, even the comments coming from your own mind will be the thief of your spark.
Keep chugging along and listen to your intuition. If something isn’t feeling aligned with your timing, let go of the reigns. If something sparks your interest, explore!
Just enjoy yourself.
What are my passions looking like these days?
Things are feeling more aligned now than ever before.
Right now I’m working on Bohemian Crossroads as it feels right. Sharing posts as they come to me. This has felt the most enjoyable to me and I’ve actually seen the most growth doing things this way. People can sniff out genuineness.
I’m keeping true to my mindful roots by selling used clothing online. I needed a way to make some extra cash, so a few years ago I started selling clothes I thrifted on eBay and Poshmark. I’m shopping at thrift stores anyway, so might as well make some money at the same time!
I have some clients I’m doing Pinterest marketing for. Pinterest is a powerhouse for me. It brings in a lot of my traffic and I’m just good at it, overall. I saw an opportunity to help other entrepreneurs grow their businesses by stepping up their Pinterest game and this has been a fun passion project for me.
Lastly, I’m dabbling in MLM marketing through Young Living. Essential oils have been a huge part of my life for years now. I finally decided to dabble in sharing my journey with them and potentially earn some money at the same time. This one is my newest project and hasn’t been fully executed yet, but it aligns with everything else that I’m doing so it should be a fun journey!
The bottom line is -
Don’t be ashamed of where your journey takes you. If you only feel connected to one passion, chase it!
If you feel aligned with more than one, chase them.
Your journey will always be different than those around you and that’s what makes it beautiful.
I’m choosing to release shame that surrounds my “dreamer” ways. It hinders my growth and totally puts a damper on my journey!
