DIY Magnesium Oil Deodorant
Switching to natural deodorant may sound like one daunting task.
The rumors are true - your body may need to go through a detox phase before it adjusts to the use of a natural based deodorant over a chemical filled option.
Let’s clear some things up before we jump into the recipe!
Sweat is good! You want your body to sweat. That’s the elimination process and clearing out of toxins. Traditional deodorants hinder that process by completely clogging your pores and filling them with harmful chemicals - yuck!
Odor isn’t always going to occur. I’ve been using natural deodorants for years, some work way better than others in regards to masking any odor. But overall, if the odor is intense, there’s an underlying issue going on. I recently discovered that magnesium deficiency is one cause for odor - thus, the magnesium oil in this deodorant!
A detox phase is normal and temporary. There’s a reason you may have seen armpit masks on the market. Traditional deodorants clog your pores with harmful chemicals that even soap can’t rid. When you unclog these pores, you need to give your body a chance to rid the rest of the toxins that have been backed up all this time. It’s temporary and totally normal!
Now, for the recipe!
Magnesium Oil Deodorant Recipe
To a 2 oz spray bottle you’ll add
3 TBSP witch hazel
2 TSP magnesium oil
15-20 drops of essential oils, I used a blend of vanilla and lavender of essential oils, I used a blend of vanilla and lavender
Shake that baby up and you’ve got yourself a new spray deodorant! It really is that easy.
Magnesium oil may cause a slight burn or tingle at first. This means your body is deficient! Try applying the spray to a less sensitive part of your body for a few days to get your levels back up. If it gets too uncomfortable or you notice a rash of any type, discontinue use.
