Today I'm going to share how positive actions can (and will) lead to positive thinking! Sounds self-explanatory, right? Yet so many people still don't grasp this concept.
Surprisingly, it's actually not as easy as we believe it is to surround ourselves with positivity.
Life is simple. We make it complicated and overwhelming by being hard on ourselves and surrounding ourselves with so much stress and anxiety. We all need to root down and try some of these very easy tips to reduce the stress and promote the positivity.
Get yourself a hobby.
So easy! Find something you genuinely enjoy doing and bask in it. For hours, if you want! When you're doing something that you enjoy doing, you really start to see the light in life. Read, write, hike or paint. Just do something that you love.
I love writing and making jewelry. I could do both for hours and then wonder where the time went. These two things give me purpose and give life meaning. They make me really enjoy my time here!
Encourage yourself and others.
Be nice! Judgment, whether towards yourself or others, will bring you down. Judgement is like a dark cloud. It starts on you. Everyone you discourage gets covered by this dark rain cloud that originated on you. Be nice to yourself and it will be easier to be nice to others.
Chances are, you would never tell your friend or mother the things that you say to yourself. You are the one person you're going to be with for your entire life, so treat yourself with some respect!
When it comes to others, you never want to be the reason someone else is hurting. Even if they don't act like they are affected, they most likely are deep down. Being nice and encouraging someone can turn their whole day around and can give them the purpose they may have been searching for.
Live a more minimalistic life.
Clutter in your life, clutters your mind. Keep things organized and tidy. Easier said than done when you work and have a lot of responsibility, I know! But it truly does help keep your mental state just right. There are so many studies done that prove a cleaner, less cluttered home can severely affect the happiness you feel.
This one is very overlooked. We get so caught up in what other people have that we forget how much we have ourselves. Be so grateful for what you've got and keep in mind how much less you could have.
If you've got a roof over your head and food in your belly, then you have a hell of a lot to be grateful for. Don't ever take it for granted. Love it and appreciate it no matter what.
Kidding! Exercise doesn't have to be repulsive. It can definitely be fun when you find something that you truly enjoy. Go hiking, swimming or even try Zumba!
For me, it's yoga. I'm a very laid back person, so yoga really gets my mind and my body right. It's mellow and hardly ever feels like a work out to me. I enjoy it and can definitely tell a difference in my thinking if I go without it for too long. Just find something that you enjoy that doesn't make you feel like you're doing a chore.
These make my mind, body and soul so freakin happy. I definitely don't take advantage of them as much as I should, but I love them!
Different oils are for different things. My favorites for a happy mind are my lemon and peppermint oils. You don't have to break the bank for your oils either. Chances are you have a store very close to home that sells them. Or you can always check Amazon, woo woo! Just make sure that you're buying from a trusted source and there's no funk in your oils!
I recently started using DoTerra and I'm very impressed with the quality. They're strong enough to last a long time, but don't make my head wanna scream with scent overload. Plus, you can actually ingest these ones. Which make them even cooler!
Meditate. Meditate. Meditate.
Meditation has a stigma of being for hippy-dippy people or super spiritual people. I'm here to tell you meditation is for anyone. The housewife, the 9 to 5 girl, the football player. You name it, they should meditate.
Meditation gives your brain a break. It's all about slowing your breathing and being in the moment. It's hard to stop the thoughts at first, but even as you're learning you still get the awesome benefits that it has to offer.
So get your booty on the floor, bed, chair - whatever! Close your eyes, take some seriously deep breaths and try your best to clear your mind.
Not feeling the benefits? Try downloading the Headspace app or hitting up a meditation class. Google is your BFF when it comes to guided meditation help.
Time to resort to our childhood ways. Coloring and writing can really be good for the mind. They're both super relaxing and can get a lot of stress out onto the paper that is in front of you.
Try doing a brain dump. Get a piece of paper and write down all of your thoughts as they come. Get every last bit of overwhelming energy out of your brain and literally let that shit go!
Coloring for me is so relaxing. Especially the mandala coloring pages that have become so popular. Something about the symmetry of them really allows my mind to slip back into a positive place.
Check Etsy for cool coloring pages if you want one you can just print from home. Or download a coloring app. These aren't as effective to me, but I still really dig them!
