Identifying A Passion That Could Remove You From The Cubicle
You hear this word thrown around all over social media, I'm sure of it. Passion.
Finding your passion is exactly what you need to do if you're wanting to pursue something that will propel you into the life of your dreams and potentially leave your mundane day job.
Your passion is that thing that puts you into a state of flow. That thing that you just love doing and could see yourself flowing through for the rest of your life.
Not all of us have found it yet, and that's okay. We're going to go through some questions that you should probably start asking yourself if you're looking in the direction of making "The Leap."
One quick side note - your passion may change over time. We are constantly growing and evolving, which means our interests are as well. There is nothing wrong with you if you change over time, that's the beauty of life! Be patient and gentle with yourself, always.
What makes you happy?
That's such a simple question! But root down and think about what in your life brings you the most happiness. It doesn't have to be a hobby. I'm literally just asking you what makes you the most happy.
It could be something as simple as walking your dog or spending time with your significant other.
What brings you so much joy that you just always look forward to doing that thing?
Write some things down on a piece of paper.
What puts you into flow?
This answer may be totally different than the answer to what makes you happy. Flow, to me, is when you're doing something and you totally lose track of time. You're in so much bliss and are enjoying what you're doing so much that hours could pass and you'd never even notice.
For me, making jewelry really puts me into flow. When I'm designing and playing with the metal, I totally lose track of time. Also, adventuring makes me flow! I love hiking through mountains or strolling down beaches. Both things are completely different, but they both put me into the best state of flow.
What would you like to do?
Maybe what makes you happy and what you want to do have no correlation. But now it's time to ask yourself, "What would I like to do?" If you have a calling towards something, maybe that is your passion. Things call our names and pull our attention in their direction for a reason. It might be that your soul knows what you are meant to do and is trying to drop hints for you.
You don't have to know exactly what you want to do, but if you have a general idea then you are definitely on the right track towards finding a passion!
Could this be a passion turned business idea?
Now that you've identified what gives you flow, makes you happy and interests you - do you have an idea of a passion? Your passion will always be based off of things that bring you joy. If you dread doing it and the thought of it makes you want to cringe a little, then it definitely is not a passion or something that you should be doing forever!
One day you will find your thing, even if it isn't sparked from this post. Your passion will come to you as long as you keep thinking about what makes you happy and what brings you into flow.
When you explore these questions and the answers you came up with, something should start to get triggered inside of you. Something should be pulling at your heart strings and start to peak your interest.
If you're not sparked and are still feeling stumped, that's totally okay. Like I said in the beginning, be easy on yourself. Be patient. Your "thing" is coming. The universe is just waiting on the divine timing to send you the hint that you're seeking. Let this come to you and let it feel natural.
Anything that is forced is not a passion. You should feel bliss from your passions, not resentment!
Follow your heart and feel the flow.
