Finding Peace In A 9 To 5 That You Hate
So you're stuck in a 9 to 5. You wake up every morning to the dreaded sound of that damn alarm again. Don't you just hate it? Time to start the same old routine. In the same place you hate. With the same negative people and surroundings. Again.
Some of us just aren't meant for a 9 to 5. Our spirits are too free. Our ideas are too wild. But sometimes we get "stuck" in these office jobs. You know, the ones that feel as though they're ripping your soul right out of your body.
They suck.
But when you're on the journey towards something more for yourself, there's one concept you need to start grasping.
You need to be grateful for this job.
Bet you didn't see that one coming. It made me want to vomit just writing it. But this is one concept that really changed the way I viewed my damn day job. I still strongly disliked it, don't get me wrong. But I changed the way I felt about it, for the most part.
Instead of it being my damn day job, I thought of it as a tool. This place is a tool that is helping me live my way towards the life that I've been dreaming of. It's teaching me lessons, both about myself and business, that I will need when my time comes to walk away from it.
When you start to shift the way you feel about your job, and come from a place of gratitude, your whole presence at the office will change.
I got tired of dreading every morning. Dreading every alarm sound. Dreading the drive. Dreading the first steps into the office. It became a place I hated. It became a place in my heart that felt dark.
This is all temporary.
Your day job that you're in now, is temporary - as long as you want it to be. You are working towards busting your way out of there. There is no permanence about this place and once you grasp that, coping becomes a hell of a lot easier.
As long as you keep on the right path and keep fighting for what you want, you will not be stuck in this place. You will leave here a happier, healthier, you.
Learn all of the lessons.
My day job taught me so many lessons. About life. About business. About people. About myself.
Without this job, I wouldn't be prepared well enough for the life of my dreams. I needed to be alert and open in this job so that I could learn everything that it was trying to teach me.
If you're in the business side of the office, learn all that you can about running a business. In marketing? Learn all that you possibly can about putting yourself out there. Customer service? Learn how people interact, how to talk to people, and what people like. Got a shitty manager? Learn how to defuse situations and calm yourself down. There is something to learn no matter what department or field you are in, I promise you.
There are so many lessons to be learned in a 9 to 5. They're all there waiting for you to absorb so that you will be the best businesswoman you possibly can be in your next life.
This is a stepping stone.
You are on a journey. While this place may not be your destination, it is a stepping stone towards where you want to be. Enjoy your journey. Don't rush it.
Take what you need from it and go when the time is right. It all starts with you shifting your mindset to one of gratitude and positivity. That is the only way to keep your sanity and keep your journey on the right path.
Stay positive and have faith. Trust the universe and you will prevail.
Looking at all things in life from a place of gratitude, including your day job, is a powerful way to shift your perspective. If you continue to view it through a negative lens, it will continue to be a negative place. If you take it with a grain of salt and see it as a stepping stone towards the life you're craving, that life will happen so much quicker and will a lot more intensity.
Your perspective of your situation starts in your mind. It has everything to do with the way you view it. Obviously some jobs are just plain crappy, there is no avoiding it. But it's crucial to see some sort of light in it if you want to progress.
If you're 100% miserable and cannot see any light in it, then you should definitely look into other opportunities and explore what else is out there. You are never stuck. You are never alone. You just need to give yourself a chance and be patient.
