When we set goals for ourselves we're often so excited about accomplishing the goal, that we forget to appreciate the steps and time that it took towards accomplishing it in the first place.
The journey towards success is often equally as moving (if not more) than the destination.
It's like when you're going on a road trip. You enjoy the place you intended on going, but getting there is half the fun! Life and big goals are the same. The journey is where you learn the most about yourself and discover some of the greatest lessons that this life has to offer.
I'm really big into goal setting. I'm also notorious for getting myself so stressed out over achieving my goals that I don't even pay any attention to all of the awesome lessons that there are to be learned along the journey.
Recently I've started slowing down and paying attention to what I'm learning and experiencing along the way. I have to say, it feels really good!

Slowing down is so important. We spend a lot of our lives in the rat race to our next destination. There will always be another destination, so appreciating the journey towards every goal is really valuable!
When we start new endeavors, we get so excited about what could result because of them. We build up these big stories and dream endings in our heads. While this is all a beautiful part of the journey, it's also important to stay grounded and focus on what is in front of you.
While I was building my website and starting my coaching business, I got so caught up in the end goal and how amazing it was going to be. I forgot to slow down and appreciate the steps that were in front of me. I started to miss out on all of these amazing lessons that life was trying to teach me.
When overwhelm started to hit, I realized that I was focusing too much on the end goal and not appreciating the baby steps that were necessary to get to my big finish.
I slowed down, started living in the moment and damn am I glad that I did.
Now I learn so much about myself on a daily basis. I know exactly what type of person I am, how I work best, what brings the best results and so much more. I've learned so many amazing lessons about life now - including how to appreciate the journey as much as the destination!
The point of all of this is to let you know that there is beauty in the destination. It's meant to be lived in and appreciated just as much as your final destination. Live it and embrace it while you can. Your journey is unique and completely formed around your life and actions. Don't let it pass you by and become a distant memory!
Enjoy it fully in the moment and appreciate each silly lesson that life throws your way.
Some of the most scenic routes can be scene on the way to your destination. You just have to be willing to see them.
